Sturgeon is one of the fish species in Ertix River. Because of the environmental change and overfishing etc, at present, it is nearly extinct. But the increase of demands for sturgeon, its leathers and caviar in the market brings the turn point for the fish artificial breeding. Altay is the original production place of sturgeon and possesses excellent water quality, ample water source, and available workshop. At the same time Ertix River is rich in parent fish resource of the sturgeon, which is beneficial to the development of breeding sturgeon.
