1. Survey of the project: The planting of Hami melons in Shanshan County has a long history, which is the largest production and export base of Hami melons. Effected by unique geographic and clamatic environment, the fruits and melons there are of high quality and well known in China and its bordering countries. The project area has abundant water resources, perfect infrastructure, convenient transportation and adequate electric power. Lanzhou-Xinjiang double-track railway and 312 National Highway travese the whole county and provide reliable guaranttee for the production and transportation of the project.
2. The Main Content and Scale of the Project: 5000 green house sheds will be constructed which calls for a total investment of 38 million yuan, of which: 1. cost of every green house (including cold-proof equipments) reaches 70,000 yuan, with total costs of 35 million yuan. 2. 2 power operated wells will be developed with total concerned and high voltage lines calling for 400,000 yuan. 3. Construction of large-scale melons and fruits market and concerned living facilities, warehouse and packaging workshop calls for 2,600,000 yuan of investment.
3. Market Information: Hami melons will be traded in November, around Sring Festival and the following May respectively with the implementation of the project, which can satisfy the tremendous demands of consumption markets at home and abroad for melons and fruits in the reverse seasons. The market potential is great.
4. Estimate of economic benefits and fund-raising program: The green house sheds will produce in 3 batches every year, first batch of melon seedlings will be raises at the end of July and ripe for sales in November, with an output of one mu reaching 2 tons. The second batch of melon seedlings will be raises in October and ripe for sales around Spring Festival, with an output of 1.6 tons/mu. The third batch of melon seedlings will be raises in January and ripe for sales in May, with an output of 2 tons/mu. Costs and salaries of workers for 3 batches totals 16,000 yuan, the annual net revenue for every green house reaches 40,000 yuan, and the total investment will be recovered in 2 years.
